Genseal
Description
The perfect “raincoat” as it seals out rain and water. It is an acrylic-based, waterproof coating, that offers excellent no-peel adhesion to surfaces. It has a high degree of elasticity, excellent weathering properties, water resistant and remains flexible at low temperatures.
SUITABLE FOR USE ON:
• Corrugated fibre cement sheets
• Cement or clay roof tiles
• Galvanised iron
• Roofs
• Parapets
• Flashings
• Walls
• Windowsills
• Fascia’s
• Gutters
• Cladding of garden pots
• Painted surfaces
NOT SUITABLE FOR USE ON:
• Areas of long term pooling
• Under tiles
APPLICATION:
• Exterior surfaces
APPLICATION OF GENSEAL WHEN USING A MEMBRANE:
• Apply thick basecoat to an area slightly wider than the membrane
• Press membrane firmly into wet Genseal to obtain maximum saturation from below. Leave 50mm edge of membrane untreated to serve as overlap over adjoining strip. Allow to dry fully.
• Complete saturation of membrane and overlaps. Ensure that the membrane is completely saturated. Allow to dry.
• Apply two coats of Genseal or one coat Genseal followed by one coat of exterior paint.
NOTE: Ensure that product dries properly between coats.
DILUTION:
• Not recommended
MAINTENANCE:
• Up to ten years if maintained with one liberal maintenance coat after 5 years – 1m2/lt.
FINISH:
• Matt finish
SPREAD RATE:
• 8-10m2/lt
• 3-5m2/lt, for tiles which have a rough gritty finish.
• 2-2.5m2/lt, when the membrane is being used.
DRYING TIME:
• Re-coating Time: 2 hours
• Hard Dry: 4 hours
• Touch Dry: 30-90 minutes depending on temperature, humidity and surfaces being coated.
• Drying Times may be extended during wet or cold weather.
• Surfaces should not be painted in wet or damp weather.
COLOURS:
• Red, Grey, Black, White and Green
CLEAN UP:
• Tools, equipment and spillages can be cleaned up with warm, soapy water, before the product dries.
HEALTH & SAFETY:
• In case of accidental contact with eyes or skin, wash the affected area with plenty of water and seek medical advice.
• This product is harmful if swallowed. Do not induce vomiting, call your local poison centre or doctor.
